Strain Engineering for Lysine

Online Inquiry

CD Biosynsis is dedicated to helping customers discover and screen new lysine-producing strains and improve existing strains to achieve large-scale lysine fermentation production.

Background

Lysine is an essential amino acid for humans and animals and is widely used in medicine, food, and feed. The synthetic pathways of lysine are the aspartic acid pathway and the α-aminoadipic acid pathway. A variety of bacteria and fungi are capable of producing lysine, with bacteria producing lysine through the diaminoheptanedioic acid metabolic pathway and yeast producing lysine through the metabolic pathway that produces the 2-aminoadipic acid intermediate. Currently, fermentation is the predominant method for lysine production.

  • Use of resistance mutations as markers to screen for mutant strains with increased capacity for secondary metabolite synthesis.
  • Combination and application of excellent properties obtained by conventional mutagenesis.
  • Lysine is used as a starting material to synthesize poly-lysine.

Deliverables

  • Efficient cell factory for lysine production.
  • Lysine, L-Lysine, ε-polylysine.

How We Can Help

Development of Microbial Chassis for Lysine Production

Microbial fermentation is currently at the heart of the lysine production industry. We can develop high-yielding microbial chassis. The following table shows the focus of our current work. Please contact us directly if you have other chassis of interest for lysine production.

Escherichia coli Corynebacterium glutamicum Agaricomycetes Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Candida albicans Cryptococcus neoformans Bacillus

High-throughput Screening to Obtain High-Yielding Strains

We have developed a strain screening method that combines multiple parameters with the fermentation process, and are able to provide high-throughput screening of high-yielding strains of lysine.

Genetic Modification for Strain Improvement

We can help our customers genetically modify engineered lysine strains. For example, overexpression of lysine synthesis-related genes, improvement of gene expression product activity, reduction of branched metabolic flow, etc.

Applications of Lysine

CD Biosynsis can develop tailored tools and customized approaches to harness the power of synthetic biology to drive lysine production and meet the needs of customers in a variety of industries.

  • As an animal feed additive.
  • As a food fortification agent.
  • As a component of various infusion formulations.
  • As an auxiliary therapeutic agent for diuretic drugs.
  • Used in the treatment of hepatitis B.
  • Used in the treatment of bronchitis.
